Ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15 through October 15

September 14, 2020
Hispanic Heritage Month

The list is very small right now because of Covid but this is what we have so far and remember it goes through mid October so more will come up.

LATINO FILM FESTIVAL -  The festival usually takes place in March, but during 2020 it will go virtual on September 17-27.  Here's the link.....film

OLD TOWN SAN DIEGO STATE HISTORIC PARK - You can witness the living legacy of California's first permanent settlement at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, San Diego's first "downtown." Old Town represents San Diego's Hispanic heritage from 1821 to 1872, when Mexico gained independence from Spain and took over the area. Live mariachi performers can be seen every day in Old Town.

THe CENTRO CULTURAL DE LA RAZA is a fascinating cultural arts center with a mission to create, preserve, promote and educate about Chicano, Mexicano, Latino and Indigenous art and culture. Check out the many rotating exhibits and performances of theater, dance, music, and film/video. Some of the fun includes Azteca dance, Teatro Chicano, and Ballet Folklorico. This center, uniquely housed in a former water tower, dons outdoor walls exquisitely painted with colorful murals.

Here are some LatinX businesses to check out as well.  Click here..

Discover Mexico cooking series:  classes are sold out but you can watch the recording here.

As more places and events come up, I will update this page since Hispanic Heritage Month goes to the middle of October.
