10 Places to Get a Great Margarita in San Diego

February 22, 2019

We’re pretty choosy about the silly National "Whatever" Days we participate in around here, but there’s no hesitation in celebrating a good margarita!

Of course, there is no shortage of places to get a great margarita in San Diego, and this is by no means an exhaustive list but here are some of our favorite places to get a margarita around the county.

Cantina Mayahuel
Adams Ave in North Park

If you love tequila, and you haven’t been to Cantina Mayahuel yet…well...GO! They’ve got an extensive selection of tequilas and mezcals to choose from for you to find your perfect margarita.

A must go to place anytime we’re in San Diego. #cantinamayahuel #tequiladonlorenzo #margarita #tequila

Casa Guadalajara
Old Town San Diego

If you’re looking for the Old Town experience, Casa Guadalajara delivers. Sit outside on the beautiful courtyard, and good luck deciding between all the margarita options. For National Margarita Day, they’re serving their house margs at happy hour price ($5!) all day.

Casa de Reyes
Old Town San Diego

Obviously, Old Town is the place to go for a margarita. Casa de Reyes features only 100% blue agave tequilas, and many of their margaritas can be ordered by the pitcher – so bring some friends!

Nothing beats staying warm by the fire pit while sipping on a delicious margarita! Salud! . . . #cheers #youstaythirstysd #margaritamonday #salud #firepit #fire #margarita #margaritas #datenight #oldtownsandiego #casadereyes

Whether you like your margaritas on the rocks or frozen, La Puerta’s margaritas will please. If you’re looking for a classic, order the Whole Lotta Love, or if you’re looking for something fun, try the Purple Haze – frozen marg swirled with house made sangria.

Ponce’s
Kensington and Del Sur

We can’t pick a favorite margarita here, there are too many great choices.  If you’re looking for sweet, try the La Vanilla made with two Añejo tequilas, Grand Marnier, and house-made organic agave nectar mix. Want a strong flavor? Try the Smokey, made with Don Julio Añejo and agave nectar mix, with a floater of Mezcal.

Coasterra
Harbor Island

This place has more than just an incredible view – they’ve got an impressive list of agave spirits and make a mean margarita. Try Deb’s Coconut Margarita or the Blood Orange Margarita.
