Pride weekend is here!!! Join our LGBTQ community as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots which catapulted the International Pride Movement. This year's theme is "Free to Be You." Pride is one of my favorite San Diego events of the year because it's all about being inclusive,sending the message of love, and fighting for equal rights.

Pride of Hillcrest Block Party

When: July 12, 2 p.m.

Where: Pride Square Plaza, Hillcrest

Price: Free! (Donations encouraged)

Kick off Pride weekend at the Block Party!!! "Free to Be You" is this year's theme. There'll be a happy hour from 2PM- 7PM, a beer garden, drag performances, and live DJs. This is a free event, but donations are encouraged!


Spirit of Stonewall Rally

When: July 12, 6-7 p.m.

Where: 1500 University Avenue, Hillcrest, underneath the Hillcrest Pride Flag

Price: Free!

Right after the Block Party, head over to the Hillcrest Pride flag to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York. You can pay respects to those at the forefront of the pride movement in San Diego, as well. 

Pride 5K Run and Walk

When: July 13, 8 a.m.

Where: University Avenue and Centre Street, University Heights

Price: $40

Get your Saturday morning exercise done at this 5k Run and Walk. Ticket proceeds will go to The Center's Youth Housing Project and the San Diego Pride Community Grants.


Pride Parade

When: July 13, 10 a.m.

Where: 1500 University Avenue to Quince Drive, Hillcrest

Price: Free!

This parade is always so much fun! Over 250,000 people will be here, making it one of the biggest pride parades in America!! Bring your rainbow gear, a chair, and watch the 1.5 mile long route of dancing, music, and more! The parade route starts at the Hillcrest Pride Flag. 

Pride Festival

When:  July 13, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

                July 14, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

Where: Marston Point, Balboa Park

Price:     $20 per one-day pass purchased online

                $25 per weekend pass purchased online

                $30 per weekend pass purchased day of or at festival gates

This year's lineup includes Melissa Etheridge, pop star King Princess, and more. There'll be over 100 entertainers hitting the stage, as well as a ton of vendors, exhibits, and food booths!
