For anyone who's been following my love life over the years, you know it's been a STRUGGLE to find the right one. I'm not much of a girly-girl at all and tend to lean towards a "guys" attitude about relationships. Some of my friends even call me "DoBro" lol

Anyway, a little over 3 years ago one of my best friends, Manaleage, convinced me to join Tinder and on my first night on the app I got matched with a guy named Steven. I was so excited to connect with such a cute guy. I sent over a screenshot to Manaleage, and she responded with: "OMG Dorothy.... I went on a date with that guy last week!" Immediately I was bummed out and wanted to cancel the date, but Manaleage convinced me to keep it.  She told me nothing was there between them, but he was a nice guy... if anything it would at least be a fun date.

So, that next night I met Steven at Modern Times in North Park. We hit it off immediately and had a great night bar hopping in North Park! During our first date I never told him that he went on a date with my best friend the week before, but I did tell him I work in radio. At the time I was on a morning show, and I told him he should listen the next morning. Fast forward to the next morning as Steven's getting ready for work, he turns on the radio and hears, "Coming up next... Dorothy went on a date with a guy from Tinder and what he doesn't know is he went on a date with her best friend the week before." It made for a great start to our relationship LOL

All joking aside, Steven has been truly an amazing partner. He's smart, funny, caring, really good with kids, and he keeps me on my toes. We have so much fun together, and he's seen me through some really hard times (like losing my uncle to cancer and losing my job last year). He's the most supportive person I know and constantly pushes me to be great. On top of all the great things about him, Steven comes from a really great family that I am so excited to be apart of.

Like many girls who've been in a relationship for over a year and a half, every birthday/anniversary/holiday that passed I was hoping that he would be propose. It wasn't until my 32nd birthday last September when he surprised me with a surprise party, and a proposal! Steven rented out a couple of cabanas at Ballast Point in Little Italy and got all of our family and friends together. Everyone thought it was just a surprise party, but then after I walked in and everyone sang "Happy Birthday," he taps me on the shoulder and gets down on one knee!!!

I rarely ever cry about anything, but this definitely made me tear up. I just turned around and saw him down on one knee and was in shock. With everyone screaming with excitement, Steven didn't get a chance to say anything, and I never said "Yes!" (That's SO our relationship) LOL

I hope you enjoyed seeing just a little bit of one of the happiest moments in my life :) Every Wednesday I'll give you an update into our wedding... and by next Wednesday we'll have a date and venue confirmed!!! I can't wait to share it with you. BTW if you have any tips on planning a fun, affordable wedding, please send them my way or email me (! P.S. Shout out to my best friend Mal for capturing this special moment and for making this video
