I just want to say “Thank You”. I receive a call every year for on my birthday and it is something I look forward to every year. I don’t remember if it was Gene Knight or Sam Bass, but please let them all know how special it is and how good they maake people feel. AND it is not a short message, it is a long message wishing the best of the day! You guys are awesome, I’ve been a listener for over 15 years and will continue to listen. I work for the government and I work out of my government vehicle every day and most weekends and your station is what I listen to ALL the time. You ALL are the Best! from the morning show with Sonny and Susan to the late night I have to work and listen to Delila…..”Please make sure the ALL know how special they are”. THANK YOU!

For the past 1 1/2 hours (it’s just past 11:30 a.m. on 5/27) I have been listening to KYXY from La Jolla, CA. I want to THANK YOU for the BEAUTIFUL older music you’ve been playing. What a WONDERFUL respite from this frantic world for those of us who are tired of listening to rap, hard rock, heavy metal or all the bad news on TV. We listen to the radio in an attempt to “escape” and give our senses a much-needed, pleasant rest. Please keep it up. There is a large segment of the population looking for someone to fill that niche.

Why can’t I listen to KYXY any more? I get some stupid message from CBS, that I can’t listen from my current location – which is the UK. What’s happening?

I really enjoy the music you play beginning in the morning. Although, the evening music is sadly lacking due to the absence of Delila. What happened to her? I used to enjoy her sharing of life on a farm with the six children. I know there must be plenty others that feel the void since she is no longer on the air.

Boy have I got a story for you.
Today at work I was listening to KYXY as usual, and I heard that they would be giving away Yo Gabba Gabba tickets. I have a two year old daughter and she absolutely LOVES that show! Since I was at work, I wasn’t paying close attention to when hebsaid they were giving them away. So I made a point to call just before 5pm to ask what time they planned to give them away. I was surprised that it had actually started ringing because as we all know it’s almost impossible to get through! And my call was answered! The DJ asked if I was listening and I said yes (of course :) ) and he asked me to turn it up so he could here. I did…(Arrowsmith was playing). He then proceeded to tell me that he had caller number nine on his last call but no one was there so he went to the next call and it was ME!!!! And then… … My call FAILED! I couldn’t believe it! I’ve never been so frustrated! I’ve never got through on a radio line let alone win something! And my call failed! I am in shock! And so sad!! I’ve called over 100 times since 5pm and not one time have I got through. I can’t believe it!
Well, it just goes to show that anyone CAN win… As long as you have a strong phone signal! :) I guess I’ll keep trying.

With Love

I’ve been a listener for a long time and hearing my name mentioned on the air is already a big treat but having a birthday message left on my machine is just awesome. This is a message for the dj who does the nightly programs, the one with the wonderful British accent who sounds so much like Hugh Grant.

I want to thank you for your wonderful programming. My husband and I were visiting California this week from Virginia and were astounded by your wonderful choice of soft rock love songs and by your smoothe sounding voice, mr dj.

Could you please play a special love song from Shelly to lovers everywhere who not only love each other, but care about each other with all their hearts. The song is “Nobody Loves Me Like You Do.” It was recorded by Whitney Houston and also recored by Anne Murray. Either version would be great.

I noticed that you talk about our horoscope signs. The other night you left me wondering whether Taurus and Pisces would make a love connection. I am Taurus; My birthday is April 23. Please send me birthday wishes on that day next year. Love you, mr British dj. Will write again sometime.

Fondly,

Shelly from Charlottesville, Virginia

Re Hollywood update, I think you need to review the meaning of “spoiler”, if a scene in a movie to supposed to be surprising or shocking, and you tell about it, that is a spoiler, even if it is only 4 minutes into the movie.

I don’t understand why you and your DJs would publicize the location of DUI checkpoints.
Let’s see, someone is drunk and getting behind the wheel. Let’s make sure they know where the checkpoints are so that they don’t get a ticket!!

I seriously question the judgment of your station and its managers for helping to publicize this information.’
What is your motivation here?
I hope the checkpoints catch HUNDREDS of drunk drivers, before they keep driving and kill someone!

    Mark Blackwell
    September 7, 2010 10:30 AM

For over 20 years now, the San Diego Police Department & California Highway Patrol have supplied us with the list of DUI checkpoints and asked us to provide the information to our listeners. The idea is to reduce the number of drunk drivers on the road by letting them know that the police are out there.

      Hi Sarah –

As Mark explained, this is a public service. The SDPD have planned for your second concern; as the locations they send to us are ‘planned’ checkpoints. Were you to try and find every one of them on any given night, you will find that some of them have been moved for this exact eventuality. If you have any further concerns, please forward them to the SDPD’s Public Outreach office.

      Best,

      Tim

I’d like you to hold a telethon to raise enough money to by any of the if not all of the 10,000 tickets for the Chargers game vs. the Titans on 10/31. An estimated goal would have to be $2.5 Million & you would have to phones manned for 24 hours to pull this off.

I am very unhappy about the music you are playing during the 4 to 6pm time – specifically about 5pm. You are playing some very annoying RAP and HEAVY metal music that is not typical for KYXY. I generally go to bed listening to 96.5 with a sleep timer. However, now that you have started your Xmas music, I have stopped listening to 96.5 at night. We do have an app for the iPhone. It’s the AOLRadio app. You can click the link on the left side of the home page. Just download it, install it, and select KyXy from the list of stations. There’s also an app for the Blackberry, and if you do a Google search for Cherry RPlayer, you can get one for the Droid as well.

The best song of this time of year for me is

A Soldier’s Christmas

And the following is the reason why!

The highlight of my 21-year Navy career was serving our county in the Desert Storm/Desert Shield conflict for 18 months. My wife at that time did not believe
that the U.S. had any business over there & when I arrived back in the States, she wasn’t at the airport to pick me up. I took a cab home and, needless to say, felt very unimportant, unappreciated and that my time spent defending my country was in vain. I wanted someone to recognize the sacrifice or say “thank you.” Thank you goes a long way…

I did lose my best friend over there and I went through a lot of pain with that & being separated from my family and the recovery community I had come to feel the support of. I didn’t have Jesus in my life then, and God was a distant character that I believed in but had no relationship with.

So, almost 16 years later I was dating the most beautiful woman in the world
(Susy, who is now my wife; sings in the choir with you) and she asked me to go to church with her. I agreed to go to be with her, not Jesus, and when she requested I accompany her to the 4th of July Celebration at church, I said “Yes.”

Well when the part of Celebration came to “We Say Thank YOU” I felt something come over me that made me feel “warm inside.” Susy said it was the Holy Spirit touching my heart. I listened to the words of the song and I felt people were thanking me and they didn’t even know me. Again, I felt it touch my heart, and the words “You’re our Heroes” made me feel like what I did made a difference. Then there is a part in the song that says “For greater love has no man than to give his life for a friend;
And to die for the rights of his brother is the highest call of men.”

I lost my best friend over there and it never made any sense why until I heard those words. I decided that day that I wanted and needed Jesus in my life and was saved that
4th of July 2008. Praise the Lord in the Highest; I am a Christian Man.

    Reggie,

Thank you so much for your comments here. You really touched my heart in a special way! Thank you for your service and congratulations on becoming a Believer. I had the Holy Spirit touch me in a very similar way when I was 21 and varnishing baseboards at a cousin’s house. I ended up going to her Calvary Chapel church at the time and when they sang “Open My Eyes Lord, I Want To See Jesus,” my eyes were not only opened but running down my face (like they are now after reading your special words). Thanks really doesn’t seem like enough, but I do truly mean it. God Bless You. Kat >^-^<

I awoke this morning, as all mornings, to your station playing wonderful Christmas music. There was an article read about the meaning of Christmas being lost and how to obtain it back and retain it in our hearts. Is it possible to get a copy of that reading. It was about 7:00 AM today, 12/19/10. I have been looking for something meaningful, as this was, to give to our youth pastor at church. Please advise. Merry Christmas and have a Safe and Happy New Year.

Hi my name is Lizzy I’ve listened to this station every since I was born and Christmas is my favorite time to listen to it. I’m currently 15 and every Christmas when i listen to the station it always seems to change my view on what christmas is really about. I love how you guys help out people that aren’t as gratefully as others. You guys have inspired me to help out someone that can’t have their wishes come true on Christmas day. Next year i plan on spending any free time I have at Rady’s children hospital and having my friends volunteer and donate toys they don’t need anymore.
Thanks for showing me the real reason for Christmas.

I was so disappointed to hear about the changes with Sonny and Susan. I have been a KYXY listener for over 20 years and have really enjoyed listening to the Morning Show with Sonny, Susan and Kevin. There are reasons why we listen to KYXY, they along with Sam and Gene are huge reasons. I don’t particularily care for Jeff and Jer, which is why I didn’t listen to them on their previous station. Unfortunate decision, but I guess the upper management has it’s reasons….

Now that you have changed the DJ’s around – what’s going to happen to the “English Guy” for the evening Love Songs??? I love him – the English accent sounded very romantic and FAB!…. Sorry to say though, I am not happy to hear Jeff & Jer will now be the morning show – I left the other station because of them! I guess I won’t be waking-up with KyXy anymore.

Living in south OC I’ve never heard of your station. But since the email last week notifying us of Jeff and Jer’s return to radio, I’ve been listening and I’ve heard other drivers listening at the same time. ‘Way to go’ whoever made the decision to bring back Jeff and Jer!! It’s been a long time coming and you’ll have lots of new listeners because of them. Congratulations!!

Hooray! Jef and Jer Showgram is back! It’s about time, and thanks to Kyxy for bringing back San Diego’s Best Radio Show. We have listened for many, many years and have never forgotten the first day we listened! Do you remember Jeff reporting that you see a cow a day? Well ever since then we still remember that as we do see a friggin cow a day! Thanks for the memories and here’s to many more to come as we would love to forget about the cow a day business! Welcome Back Showgram!

I just want to say that I’ve been listening to Sonny, Susan, and Kevin for ever. I’m a big fan. When I heard Sonny’s announcement last Wed. I started crying. What a class act. You guy’s touched my heart. I listen to you every morning getting up and driving to work. I now get to listen to you in the afternoon, on the way home and while I’m getting dinner ready.
I didn’t lose you guys! Your just in a different part of the day. I’m so glad you’re still here. It was also great to hear Gene at night. Familiar voices are so comforting. Keep up the great shows!
Thanks! :-)

I listened to Sonny and Susan every morning and really liked them. I’ll miss waking up to their music and voices. What has happened to the music in the mornings? I am at work by 7 a.m. and need to have music in the background. Though I appreciate that J & J apparently are Believers by some of the things they have said, I cannot listen to all the jibber jabber in the mornings at work for the majority of the morning. I miss all of the music. I also miss my Buddy, Gene Knight, as I am off work at 6 p.m. and don’t ever get to hear him anymore. =(

Instead of limiting you to 30 days for the drawing, what about limiting you to the prizes. Like you can only win one time per drawing like the zoo passes now if you have another prize and it’s only been 10 days and it’s a new prize I can’t call… Don’t get me wrong thank you so much for the tickets I won but now I have to wait for 30 days to call again.. What do you think?

WELCOME BACK!!!!
I have never listened to KYXY- but now I’m on board!!!
Dearest Jeff, Jer, Laura, Tommy & Randy- I have missed you sooo much. I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying you each sharing your stories of the joys & the sorrows of these past 17months. My partner Michelle & I have so often during these past months wondered aloud how each of you are- emotionally & financially during these times. I am so relieved to hear that not only are you all surviving- but you are THRIVING!!! It is an honor to take this journey alongside you.
Jer- I have been on-board with you as a fellow Vegetarian for over 30 years and worked beside you (though you haven’t known it) to help end the suffering of Farm Animals.
Jeff- You are a doll!! I love how much of you give of yourself each & every day- I can’t wait to hear your voice every day.
Laura- we sent you a birthday dessert at Ken Grill afew years ago- we hope to be seeing you around the Neighborhood. We love you!!!
“Lil’ Tommy”- We walked/ ran with you last year in memory of Chelsea and you were so kind to try to reassure us that Jef & Jer would return to the air.- even though now I can see that at times that was certainly in doubt.
Randy- you are wonderful- we’ve missed you so much- I hope you’re well!!
So, I think you can see that you are Family and that we can’t imagine AND DON’T WANT TO IMAGINE what mornings are like in Sandy Gayo without you!!!!
Welcome Back- Liz Jardine

I really enjoy listening to the “I Love 80′s Music Weekend.” Thanks for bring the 80′s back! Please don’t take this away from us. I’ve listened to 96.5 on and off for several years. For a while now the music selection on 96.5 had gone down hill until you brought the 80′s music back. Music now-a-days isn’t as good as it used to be.

I am SO GLAD you brought Jef & Jer back to San Diego radio- THANK YOU. This past week’s on-air adventures had me dropping everything else in my life while I met other listeners at such unlikely places like dumpsters behind stores. A program like this makes the world feel a little smaller, people around me a little more like family, and spreads a bit of laughter and joy in an otherwise doom-and-gloom media. Now that they’re back I would love KYXY to consider extending J&J’s program time to 9:30 or 10:00- I feel stranded every day at 9am when the music starts and the program ends! Thanks! :)

Don’t know if this is the right area to leave a message for “SOMETHING GOOD” but here goes:
Last Friday February 18th the Clairemont High School varsity cheerleaders competed in Las Vegas and won 1st place in the nationals competition for cheerleading. They are and have been the team to beat. They have won 1st place 3 times in the last 4 years. They missed 1st place by 1 point on the year they took 2nd. These girls have worked hard over the years suffering tough injuries ie( broken collarbones, broken noses, etc) They represent San Diego and always bring home the goods. Congrats to the girls and their cheer coach for a job well done.

I turned to KYXY because J & J moved there. I thought I owuld change the channel after their show because of the music. I listened for a few days and thought it was not so bad. So I left the cannel on. But now that it has been a few weeks I can’t take it anymore. You have thousands of songs to choose from but you play the same ones day after day. If I hear the Pina Colada song or Lost that Loving Feeling one more time I will; expl;ode. I love both songs but have heard them thousands of times in the past 30 years. I don’t need to hear them again every day. Something has to give. Pick some new songs for a change. Thanks, Don Wilson

After two weeks of dialing and getting busy signals in my attempt to win tickets to “The Wait Is Over” party…today was my most special and lucky day. My husband asked me when I got up if I was going to try and I said “I give up”. When I heard it was time to call, I was compelled to try ONE more time. I almost fainted when Tommy answered the phone. I couldn’t be more excited to be attending this party. Thank you so much for always entertaining me on KYXY. Cleavage and heels all the way! Thank you again as I know this will be a fun, fun evening. The follow up call from Emily assured me that this wasn’t a dream!

April 8, 2011 12:38 PM

My daughters and I rescue cats and we decided to apply for a 501C3 this year and we do this out of our own home. Unfortunately my husband is in the Navy and due to custody issues with my older daughter I can not move with him to his new orders to Hawaii. I own a home here in San Diego and due to me losing both my jobs and the increased costs of court, lawyers, and travel expense to see my daughter I have fallen behind in my mortgage payments. So the cats that I rescue will all have to go to shelters (which aren’t accepting animals right now) or other rescues (that require up-wards of $200 per cat to relinquish them) if I don’t save my home. So here is what I have decided to do. My mother said I could move in with her for a year and use the condo as an incentive to raise money for the cats and our 501C3 charity. So we decided to have a lottery and the prize will be a full year Free Rent in the condo (not including gas and electric or cable, internet, or phone) and every person that donates $10 will get a lottery number (one lottery number for each $10 donated) so if they donate $50 they get 5 tickets. and then we will draw lottery numbers at the end of the period and see who wins. then I can use a little of the money to catch up my mortgage and the rest goes to the cats for food water bedding litter grooming vet bills etc. Now I know your thinking “gee don’t you charge a bundle for the cats and why can’t you use that for the bills?” Well my charity is unique where in I don’t charge for the animals because they are living creatures and should not be “bought and sold” I just want them to go to good homes. I have re-homed close to 40 cats since this January and have re-homed many many more animals in the past. So I was wondering if you could do a thing on the air that mentions this? Or maybe to a fund raiser a-thon? I think it is great when you do the St. Judes Children’s hospital thing and the others you do. This would be helping out a military family and a bunch of homeless cats that don’t want to go to tiny steel cold boxes at the local shelter or worse get put down because there is no room. Plus your listeners get a FREE year of rent in a condo in La Jolla a half mile to the beach (it is modest).

Sincerely,

April Taylor

Dear Jeff and Jer,

My friend Sylvia Crise and I have been following you guys since your career began and we are so glad you are back!. BUT…we have been calling every day trying to get tickets to the party tomorrow night and could never get through.

We think you need some of your ORIGINAL fans at this party. We were at the first Halloween party at the Hotel Del (when you were with B100). Five of us were dressed as the “weenie waitresses” (named by you Jef). We ended up winning for the group category and won a B100 Dollar bill prize.

We are now grandmothers and GREAT grandmothers. BUT…we still wear high heels and have great cleavage! The only thing is the two are a little closer together !

Please give the “older” ladies one last chance to see you before we croak! PLEASE PLEASE give us tickets!

Love…your senior citizen fans Cheryl Nelson and Sylvia Crise

Hi, I listen to Jeff & Jer every morning before work and on my way to work. I work at SHARP Grossmont Hospital! I’m not able to listen to all of the show once I get to work. I have been trying to win tickets to the party on 4/15, however I haven’t been able to get through. If I would be able to win the 20 tickets I would bring all the Hot Nurses from the hospital with me! I’m from Chicago and have listened to Jeff and Jer for a long time. Tomorrow is my son’s birthday, however he is on the USS Ronald Reagan, so he wouldn’t be able to be at the party. You could contact me at 619-253-7984

I’m in a new job now where I need to be in the office at 8 a.m. I’m answering phones a lot so I can’t always listen to the radio. I listen for the Point Word from about 7:15 on in my car, but if it isn’t given before 8 a.m., I cannot get it and end up getting very frustrated. I have been listening to Fresh Favorites (Soft Rock) KyXy 96.5 for over a decade now. I’ve been thinking! Since the royal wedding is only 2 days away, maybe you guys at the radio station could play a few Disney princess fairy-tale related songs from today through midnight Sunday alongside your regular weekday music playlist and I love The 80′s weekend music playlist for royalty’s sake. Besides playing just the end title versions of Disney songs like “A Whole New World” by Regina Belle and Peabo Bryson and “Beauty And The Beast” by Celine Dion and…go figure…Peabo Bryson, which I will still accept for a week like this week. Maybe you could also play the original songs on your station the way they were sung DURING the movies. For examples, “Beauty And The Beast” by Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Potts, “A Whole New World” by Brad Kane and Lea Solonga as the singing voices of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, “When You Wish Upon A Star” by Cliff Edwards as Jiminy Cricket, “Someday My Prince Will Come” by Adriana Caselotti as Snow White, “Heigh-Ho” by the 7 dwarfs, “Once Upon A Dream” by Bill Shirley and Mary Costa as Prince Phillip and Princess Aurora (Briar Rose), and so on. Of course, I realize this may be hindered due to copyright and royality issues, station policies, and whether or not you have those songs on any CD or Disney CDs with those landmark songs, etc. Thank for taking the time to read this and MAYBE following through on my request. God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ.

P.S.: “Hey, Kevin Dean, I’m that guy that saw you outside my store of employment at Stater Bros. Supermarkets in Poway at Christmastime taking part in our store’s ‘Harvesting Hope For Our Community’ food donation program. How goes the afternoon traffic?”

Good morning Jeff & Jer,
I couldn’t call with my celebrity sighting because I’m at work. But, I was at the airport sitting across from actor George Segal and his wife. Just when I was taking a picture of him on my cell, he jumped up and said to his wife, “we’re at the wrong terminal! Our flight is boarding, we have to run!” He turned and ran but I have a picture on my cell. I knew it was him immediately and then saw his boarding pass in his pocket and it had his name.

Why can’t I find e-mail contact for Sonny and Susan? I tried for over a half hour to get into the question of the day starting at around 5:45, and could not get through. When the phone finally rang, after 8 minutes of continuous ringing, I hung up. I would like to know if my guess was correct. I say that 93% of all households have a junk drawer. Am I right?

I heard y’all (Jeff & Jer) while on phone hold to speak to a burocrat. I caught glimmers of your narrative about Moking Birds. They really are’t all that bad actually.

One point you brought up is, “They sing all night long.” They are and they aren’t. Each of their mini-tunes is a recognizable conversation system between themselves.

When they sing all night they are actually communicating. If you ever notice they suddenly stop singing. – SOMETHING IS WRONG SOMEWHERE, They will not begin singing again until the one that sounded the alarm re-starts his melodious communication thus signaling everything is alright. (as in possible earthquake, fire, etc.)

For this reason the Moking Bird has earned the knickname “THE SENTRY BIRD”. They stand Night Guard Duty for Mother Nature.

American indians brought this system of communication into their culture as I’m sure you have heard portrayed in them great ole’ Western Movies up till 2000.

I hope this vindicates the Mokingbird’s reputation to some degree with y’all.

Stay well, be safe,

Marvin J. Rosenthal

Welk Theatre- Debby Boone
I just saw the best concert! Wow. Her voice was beautiful – she sounded like an angel. You could clearly hear every single word she sang. And, her band …. they were wonderful too. Afterwards, my husband and I had purchased one of her CDs which she so kindly signed. She even posed for a picture with my husband! She couldn’t have been any nicer. As for the Lawrence Welk Theatre, it was very nice. Easy to get to … not a bad seat in the house, and the ticket guy was awesome! He just loved Debbie Boone and the theatre where he worked. Happy people all around! Best concert prize I ever won….seriously. Anyone at any age who appreciates music would absolutely love hearing her and her band.

Laura – I’m with you girl! You need to see the TEETH!! However it can be awkard to ask for a pic of them smiling, although sometime you can say, “Gosh you look so stern in your pics……..send me one with you smiling!” But sometimes, you just have to grit YOUR teeth, and meet them for coffee to check it out. Trust me – it’s not that hard to get through a coffee, and later email them and politely say there just wasn’t any chemistry. Don’t stress over it too much. There are PLENTY OF FISH in the sea! lol

Me and my Fiance, Monique Renee Todd, are getting married on Tuesday September 6th at our church in Coronado.

I’ve known her since we were little 4 &5 year olds, (I was the one who was 4 years old). We just re-met in 2004 and began dating. we have been dating for 7 years and on June 17th, 2011 at Pachanga Casino, I popped the question next to the waterfall fountain pool… yes, i was nervous, but to my surprise, she did not say no.

We are now happily engaged and she’ll be moving in on the 16th of this September. I was wondering if you can play a song for us that we can say “This is our song”, and I want to tell her Thatthe words are not enough of how much I am IN LOVE WITH HER.

Sincerely,

On this morning’s (Sep 20) Jeff & Jer show, there was mention of a license place that read “36DWOW”. It’s obvious to most people what it means, but a teen called in and said that it has something to do with World of Warcraft. I was getting food in the drive through so I didn’t hear how the “36D” part related to World of Warcraft. My wife said they mentioned “360”, but I still don’t see the connection. If you are able to clear this up for me, Thanks!

Hi Jeff, yes those yeast rolls are the best. Go to Yuma, get off the freeway at 16th St. They have a Texas Roadhouse that will work for you. Or you can go next door to the Golden Corral, they have them too. Then you can go across the freeway to Cracker Barrel. Better yet, go north to St. George. They have the best buffet in the country, Chuckarama. They have the best yeast rolls too. Hope this helps, and good luck with the diet!

e the ’80′s weekend music. I guess this will take a hiatus for about 4 weeks.

What I was wondering is whether Sonny is performing his gig for the first day of Hanukkah. Like, the Dreidel song. I happen to be Jewish, and for about 4 weeks each year, I don’t plan to listen to KYXY, except for announcements like the PWOTD and the 5PM artist.

Happy Holidays!
Thank you for giving special Holiday Wishes to the Sailors yesterday.
I have 3 ‘kids’ leaving during the holiday season to serve our country. My daughter is a Marine, my son-in-law is Navy and another young man who is just like family to me, is a Marine also. They will be leaving Dec 21,(sometime during) the week of Christmas and Jan 12.
We have all been enjoying the music of the season!
Again, thanks and Happy Holidays!

The holidays are a very sad time for me, but I want to thank you for all the Christmas music you are playing. I wish we could play it all year around. Would it be possible to play, I want a Hippomotamus For Christmas. i know it is a child’s song but it is so happy a song I love it. KYXY is my favorite station, so please keep up the good music all year long. It is great to hear nice music instead of what is played on other stations.

The holidays are a sad, stressful time for ANYBODY, Annie.

IMHO, Christmas music year round is a case of overkill.

I can get Hanukkah music on Youtube. LOL!!!

I haven’t listened to KYXY since, I can’t remember and they are playing Christmas music. So, why am I not jumping for joy and blasting it as loud as I possibly can? However, will KYXY play a song for me?

    Charlie Quinn // Program Director
    December 5, 2011 12:25 PM

    Merry Christmas Lindsay!

Yes, every year KyXy 96.5 starts 100% Christmas music on, or near the Friday after Thanksgiving. I’m not sure why you are not “jumping for joy” as you mentioned. It’s hard not to open your heart to all the things that make the season special. Family, friends, children and being together is worth at least a wide grin. Thank you for your request of Johnathan Stone’s Dear Santa. I’ve referred it to my Music Director, Mark Blackwell and we’ll certainly do our best.

Tommy, what wonderful things you do for so many. Thank you and all your holligan’s & helpers for taking care of a family again this year. God Bless you.

I have one question. I notice the blue plastic tarp that was put on the roof, Will some of the wonderful holligans be fixing the roof for the family as soon as it stops raining, too, so all their new things aren’t ruined? I can’t imagine it any other way.

God bless you and all your friends for the wonderful work you do. You are truly one of God’s angels.

May you have a Merry Christmas.

Diana

P.S. Thank you to all the wonderful people who made the listening without interruptions possible, and for their gift of a car for the family. Thank you for posting pictures of all the work done on the house for the family.

Hope there’s a good lock on that door so no one takes away from the family. It’s wonderful to see what was left for the family, but maybe we should just listen to your description about the Christmas gifts so none of the wrong people get any ideas about helping themselves to what they see.

We always look forward to hearing breaking and entering at Christmas time. It’s a wonderful tradition you have given us to listen to each year. The years we don’t hear it just don’t seem complete.

David
December 16, 2011 1:54 PM

I spend a lot of time in the car and listen to KYXY when there’s nothing interesting on NPR. I love that you play Christmas music in December, but why is your playlist so limited? I hear the same damn songs day after day. Since nearly every singer has made at least one Holiday album in their career I don’t know why you can’t get more variety into it. I’ve heard Bruce Springsteen’s “Santa is Coming to Town” on KYXY everyday since Thanksgiving. It’s great, but I’m really tired of it. Try pulling out the Barbra Streisand Christmas Album for the best version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” ever.

Amanda

I heard a new Christmas song and KyXy this morning and I really liked it. I think it’s just called “It’s Christmas”. Can anyone tell me who sings this song and where I can buy it?

The movie studios are crying because there aren’t enough butts in the seats. I have a suggestion. Why not do something really radical like lower the prices? Maybe more people might want to come.

Jef,
I bought tickets to River Dance and thought the show was at 2:30 and it was at 12:30.
My dearest friends wanted to go, the best thing is they actually paid me for the tickets and we laughed all the way home.

Wearing a wedding ring – for Jeff & Jer:
My husband of almost 40 years does not wear any jewelery, wouldn’t think of it! However, years before we were married (but were going together, we are childhood sweethearts), his younger brother hammered out a quarter in shop class and gave it to him, and to this day, that is what my husband wears. He has only had it off once…when he broke his arm. The doctor cut it off because my husband’s hand swelled up. A jeweler fixed it and my husband has been wearing it ever since…

Please tell me why a radio station like KYXY would allow a morning show to go down to a courthouse and ask people why the heck they are going into the courthouse! Runs up the same alley as having two grown supposively responsible adults going into a Walmart and trying to get on their PA system to sing Merry Christmas. How irresponsible is that! Not funny, just teaching our kids that being irresponsible is okay. Get a grip KYXY management!

Rhonda, You should “get a grip”; you are going to have a pretty dull life if you do not “loosen your grip” and understand how to be more light hearted and have fun

If you consider putting a person at risk for being arrested to ask people who have made wrong choices in life, along with the possiblility of someone at that courthouse possibly pulling a gun or turning around and punching him in the face is light hearted, maybe you’re the one needing the grip. Causing security to follow a stupid radio station person wanting to pull a prank is adding to an already short-staffed courthouse and store. It’s immature foolishness. Interesting what your opinion would have been if something would have happened to Tommy, you don’t see the almighty Jef and Jer putting themselves in that situation. Get a grip yourself Older Woman Judy! Grow up!

Hi Jeff, Jer,Laura, Tommy, Randy, and Emily,

I’ll just be staightfoward. Teachers need your help! With so many cuts in the educational budget, we teachers are finding it harder to get needed supplies for our students. There is however hope with a great charity program called DonorsChoose. Through this program, teachers can submit projects to potential donors to fund. Just a few bucks can make a big difference iin our classrooms. This program has been endorsed by the queen herself, Oprah and many others,You can check it out at DonorsChoose.org.

My appeal to you is that you just mention the website to your listeners and ask them to help support classrooms, teachers, and children by donating. Thanks so much for all you do for the San Diego community.

This has been the best e-mail of my life. C-Ya!
Angela

P.S. My own project is called Ready Readers.

Jeff and Jer, I love that you are doing the mile of men again. I would stress that we need older eligibles. I mean, like over age 50. We lovelies are interested as well. I am on the east now right now but will be back in a week so I would love to see some quality older, wiser men. Thanks.

Here is a message for Jeff and Jer since they are both animal lovers….My dog Sam was missing for 2 days but we found him, and it’s an incredible story!! He got out on Superbowl Sunday and we searched around the neighborhood for hours. I came back home and called some shelters, which were closed, and then called the Pet Emergency Hospital (hoping that nothing terrible had happened). They told me that a man just brought a black lab in with a silver choke chain collar on, which is what Sam was wearing. They couldn’t find a chip in him that told them anything, so the man brought the dog back home and said that he would take him around the neighborhood again where he found him. So again I took the car around and searched & searched, feeling that this man had my Sam. No luck after driving round & round. We had to wait for 2 days because the shelters are closed on Sunday/Monday. Finally Tuesday morning came around and my husband Sean went to 2 different shelters in the area and had no luck. I called the Pet Emergency Hospital one more time and the lady said she thought that the man may have posted a message on CraigsList under Pets. I searched the Sunday postings and found a short message about a lost dog in La Mesa. I called the number and the man had Sam and he lived just one street up parallel to us. Now here is the really interesting & touching part…. when my husband Sean went to pick up Sam, the man asked him to come in the house and wanted to tell him something. He said that just yesterday his wife passed away in the home. The wife was dying and to cheer her up, the man wanted to get a puppy since this woman was talking a lot about her beloved childhood dog, a male black lab! The man said that that day he was sitting outside his house on the curb when Sam walked up to him and sat down by him. Since Sam had a collar on and had no owner walking him, he tried to find out who he belonged to. He walked him up & down the streets several times, and then proceeded to post the message on craigslist and take Sam to the Pet Hospital to see if he had an identification chip in him. When he had no luck, he took him in the house to take care of him and let his dying wife spend time with this black lab that reminded her of her dog from long ago. Sam hung out with her during her last moments until she passed. The man thought it was just what she needed to make her more calm during these last moments. Now that his wife passed on, he was going to take Sam to a shelter but that’s when I called him from his craigslist posting. I feel that it all worked out and Sam was meant to be there at their home at that time. She and her husband called him “Otis” because that is was her old dog’s name was, so now my Sam has a new middle name “Otis”.

I would to say how disappointed I was this morning 2/9/12 when I heard on Jeff and Jerr show listing top 10 on how you can tell your kids are obese, And I wanted to let you know I wasnt happy to hear that on the show this morning.
The kids with weight problems have enough to deal with on a daily basis by mean kids without radio hosts making it worst for them. Those top 10 lists could be you use by the bully kids against those weight problem kids.

I take offense on the radio host insinuated about what Adele said about representing the majority of women. Implying on taking insult that Adele is insulting majority of women. FYI, not all women are rail thin and rocking the supermodel bodies. Adele is right. Women comes in different size and shape. Deal with it.

NFL will never allow Wierd Al to do the Halftime Show unless he can do a better tribute to satan than Madonna did.
I was too shocked to see all of the demonic gestures and symbols during the show. Then I saw on Youtube how it was all part of their plan.

Hey, at least one of our schools will be representing San Diego at the big dance this week, and it still gives America’s Finest City an opportunity to be represented in nationwide TV, so let’s be proud of that, and take what we can get!

The usual station I listen to all day at work wouldn’t come in for whatever reason so I scrolled down the dial and stumbled across the Jeff and Jer show.

I like that there’s both talk and music, and good music at that!!

So glad you’re all still together. The few hours we’ve spent together today have left me feeling kinda happy inside…..looking forward to tomorrow. I know that’s weird but it’s true.

So, I’ll hear ya tomorrow!!

I don’t really like the all 80′s weekends/evenings. Why do you do it? I love your regular program, but you almost never play it. You just try too hard. I work nights, so I get stuck with more than my fair share of the stale old 80′s. If your base likes 80′s that much, why don’t you consider mixing more 80′s songs into your regular program? That would be fair for all.

I just turned on your program this morning and heard your morning people wondering what could cause a craving for ice and red vines. Now this is not an old wives tale and I had this craving to chew on ice some years ago and didn’t learn that it meant something until I solved the problem. A craving to crew ice means you may be anemic. She needs to get tested for anemia. Especially for low iron. Susan Fowler Julian.

I just wanted to say, Thank You but No Thank You!! I bought flowers from your promotion for Mothers Day and it might sound like a good deal on pro flowers, what a joke, flowers were dropped off and they were awful, tulips were all dryed up limp, the box was better looking than the actual flowers. I am never ever buying flowers from them. So Jeff and Jer if your going to advertise for a flower shop don’t do it from them, they suck big time. Vons here in Bonita have a large selection and fresh. should have gone there.
Thank You!
