It’s is Halloween Eve! Even though got a decent amount done over the weekend the most challenging costume still remains: mine! If you’re like me, when talk of costumes starts it’s really exciting and I usually end up committing to a grander idea than I should.
Enter the Daughter/Mother costumes we came up with: Jem from Jem and the Holograms and Pizzazz from the rival band, The Misfits.
I broke down and spent more than I should have and just ordered her Jem costume from a seamstress on Etsy and figured I could easily piece together a Pizzazz costume for myself. I mean, how hard could it be to look like an 80s punk rock star, right?
Oh jeez. I’m in over my head! I got a few things from the costume store and bought some animal print and fluorescent green fabric to make her dress and it’s just sitting in the Yardage Town bag haunting me. I’m paralyzed and don’t know where to start. What am I doing? I don’t know how to sew.
At least the wigs are ready. I spent more time than I’d care to admit trimming up my daughter’s Jem wig Sunday morning.
When all is said and done the joy on the kids faces will make all DIY frenzy worth it! It’s almost showtime Synergy! (anyone get the Jem reference? Anyone?)
Happy Halloween all!
PIZZAZZ, leader of The Misfits
