4-year old John Downey was heading to a birthday party with his family. They stopped at a roadside rest stop and, sadly, John left his favorite toy, a stuffed dog named Pup Pup, on the bathroom sink!
He was absolutely devastated, and after tearing apart the family home to make sure that Pup Pup had actually been left there, John’s dad had to explain to him that these things happen, and he’d probably never see his beloved toy again.
What they didn’t know was that Pup Pup had been found by a kindhearted stranger named Katie Hoeppner. Katie is a mom herself and assumed a toy like that was surely sorely missed by a kid somewhere, but she had no way of tracking down the owner.
So where did she turn? Facebook, of course. She started sharing pictures of Pup Pup having adventures with her and her family – Drinking Starbucks, watching Football, playing iPhone games and more. In each pic she asked for help finding the toy’s owner.
The pics went viral racking up 10s of thousand of likes, shares, and comments. Sure enough, they were eventually seen by John’s parents and he was reunited with his favorite toy!
