I’m certain this isn’t a totally original idea but it’s one that we’ve had a lot of fun with in our house so I thought I’d share it. At the beginning of every summer my wife and I sit down with our girls and we brainstorm a summer “bucket list” of things we want to do before the summer is over.
Well, the summer of 2017 is almost over and here’s how this year’s list is looking:
Obviously the list has seen some action over the summer so if you can’t make out all of the items they’re:
- See a movie at the movie theater
- Hike Torrey Pines
- Learn to swim without floaties
- have a picnic at a park
- water balloon war!
- Go to Seaworld
- Volunteer somewhere
- see the bat exhibit at the Safari park
- go to summer say camp
- the Fair!
- run a family 5k
- beach day!
- Padres game
- get library cards at our neighborhood library
- have a lemonade stand
- make a craft
- plant in our garden
- go to kidventures
- paint at Color me Mine
- feed the ducks at the duck pond
It’s a fun tradition and it honestly helps with discipline over the summer….we’re able to say “if you don’t clean your room/finish your dinner/etc we might now be able to finish our summer list!!
I have to say this…we were WAY to ambitious this year and we struggled to do everything. I’d recommend listing one thing per week of your kids summer!
If this is an idea you think your family would enjoy I say go for it and have fun!!!
We still have to have a Water Balloon War before school starts!
