Well week 1 of AJ Morning is in the books and I’m sitting here on Saturday morning (I managed to “sleep in” until 5:45 after waking at 3:30 all week!) reflecting on what was one of the best weeks of my life. A new chapter began doing mornings with AJ and Hula on KyXy, this is a bucket list radio gig for me and I’m so grateful and honored to be waking up with San Diego!
I learned a lot from our first week on-air together, not the least of which is that I have friends for life in AJ, Hula and their families.
I learned that AJ has a very particular concentration face while he’s working, bottom lip jutted out and chin forward like a turtle. I wish I could have gotten a better angle but I was trying to be stealth!
I learned that I’m a granny in training, and you know what? I’m going to embrace it! When the studio got cold I reached for my crochet shawl circa the Jessica Simpson “Newlyweds” days. Of course the guys had a field day making fun of me all week and once the pictures were posted the listeners did too. My favorite comments were from people saying it looked like I was wearing food, everything from noodles to fried chicken to calamari haha! I will continue to wear the mustard colored doily with pride representing grannies everywhere! #grannychic
Here’s a photo of Jessica Simpson wearing my exact, same shawl!
Finally I learned that KyXy listeners are SO AWESOME! Thank you for welcoming us and supporting us during our first week on the air. You guys are so cool, kind and FUNNY! We hope you’ll always feel welcome calling in, you are the biggest part of AJ Mornings!
