A 1.5 mile stretch of Long Beach coast is closed today after Long Beach Fire Department Marine Safety Officials spotted between 10 to 20 great white sharks swimming off the coast.

The sightings, which occurred over a week long period, occurred between Grenada Avenue and 72nd street. Officials say most of the sharks were juveniles and have not shown aggressive behavior.

The beach is expected to reopen Monday, unless there is another sighting.
