Could drinking Beet Juice keep us all young?

Researches at Wake Forest University think that it might. In a recent study they found that participants who drank beet root juice with a high concentration of nitrate (a substance found in beets) received more oxygen to their brains than their study counterparts, who were given a placebo.

The beet juice was given in conjunction with exercise and the participants were men and women aged 55 and older.

“What we showed in this brief training study of hypertensive older adults was that, as compared to exercise alone, adding a beet root juice supplement to exercise resulted in brain connectivity that closely resembles what you see in younger adults,” W. Jack Rejeski, co-author of the study, told EurekAlert.

Personally, I’d rather age.  #yuck
