Carrie Fisher Blasts UK Theaters For Banning Lord’s Prayer Pre-Star Wars Ad

Star Wars actress, Carri Fisher tells UK movie theaters to “get a life” after they banned an ad from the Church Of England that was scheduled to run before the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens.

The ad was approved by the Cinema Advertising Authority and the British Board of Film Classification, however Digital Cinema Media, which controls the major UK theater chains, refused to run the ad, which features the Lord’s Prayer. The DCM said they were concerned that the ad may be offensive to some people. They have grouped political and religious ads into a category they say can potentially offend some people.

Fisher, known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars movie series, likened the ad to having a copy of the Gideon Bible in hotel rooms.

Meanwhile, DCM is taking some heat from the UK prime minister and the Equality and Human Rights Commission for refusing to run the ad.
