Hawk Nelson has had a great run, with 10 years and 5 albums to their credit, but earlier this year, the band’s future was in question as lead singer Jason Dunn decided to seek a solo career. That left band members Daniel Biro, Jonathan Steingard, and Justin Benner to consider launching a search for a new lead singer.

Then, while touring with the Rock & Worship Roadshow, MercyMe frontman, Bart Millard, pulled Jonathan Steingard aside and encouraged him to step out from his role as guitarist/background singer and become the lead singer. Steingard’s mom had earlier made the same suggestion. Steingard took their advice. They’ve been writing songs, recording a new album and just released the first single “Words”, featuring MercyMe’s Bart Millard (now playing on The Crossing).

From Jonathan Steingard.. “We have never been more excited to be a band… Never more amped to share these new songs with you… And never felt more anticipation about our future. God has been of faithful in our lives, and he has a plan bigger and better than our own. We are stoked to see what it is”.
