After taking over for Harry Potter, Nick Jonas doesn’t have the magic to keep How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying open. The Broadway show is set to close May 20.

Though low ticket sales are to blame for the musical’s early close, the show itself has raked in more than 9 million dollars since opening in March 2011, according to Entertainment Weekly. The Jonas Brother was the third person to star in the show after Daniel Radcliffe, who originated the role, and Glee’s Darren Criss, who did a brief three-week run of the show in January. Jonas was originally slated to stay with the show until July 1.

The singer made his Broadway debut when he was just 7 years old performing in A Christmas Carol and later taking rolls in Annie Get Your Gun, Beauty and the Beast and Les Miserables. In 2010, Jonas gave Les Mis another try in London.

Though the singer loves performing with his brothers, he has a special place in his heart for the theater and specifically this show.

“It’s been fun to have a different show every night and to see the fans,” he told MTV News. “Not only Jonas fans, but also fans of How to Succeed and theater fans in general.”

After the news broke, Jonas thanked the cast and crew of the show on Twitter. He also tweeted about his upcoming plans.

Along with recording the band’s as-yet-untitled new album, Nick plans to appear on older bro Kevin’s upcoming reality show, Married to Jonas, which premieres August 19.
